5 years ago when we spoke of Accountability and Empowerment or AEP, it for the most part fell on deaf ears. Today, researching EMPOWERMENT there are literally well over 500 articles, web sites, psychologies, news sources, business CEO informational’s, tech propaganda … all now in-line with AEP. Industry 4.0 calls for it, but that’s was not enough. Operational Excellence curriculum; which outside the realm of Six- Sigma / LEAN / Continuous Improvements spike in efforts still did not enhance AEP training, but Operations Excellence has.
Funny thing about AEP, the history of “The call for to train your work force for Accountability and Empower them,” has been requested since the 1850’s. Even the heralded TPS- Toyota Production System and spins of Six sigma, agile now SCRUM was/is not an original concept.
But, that TWI AEP become a mandatory governing influence and focus to a segment of the work force, during1941-1944 by the US military, which was formed into now as the DoD. This is a program still in effect today called “Training With-in Industry (TWI).” Not only does TWI call for; “Mandated to Government Contractors,” to train the work force in many areas, the main focus is, AEP. TWI is where TPS originated all the pilers, from and could be viewed as a mirror copy.
